How often to post on LinkedIn: at least three times a week on your personal profile. Not once a month. Not whenever inspiration hits. A real cadence.
That is the short answer I give owners, founders, consultants, fractionals, and operators who already have a business. Below is why, how the algorithm actually behaves, and what to watch instead of vanity spikes.
Mylance is a LinkedIn content system that turns your real expertise into consistent LinkedIn content that sounds like you.
How often to post on LinkedIn if you already have an offer
Minimum three times a week.
I say this in every workshop. On the Impromptu Zoom and on Maven LIVE: Be Known on LinkedIn for What You Already Know, I put it the same way. Minimum three times a week. On calls I still ask, "How often do you want to be posting per week?" Two to three is the floor people land on when they are serious. We always recommend at least three.
People fight me on this. They hear three and feel like that is a second job. Here is the part most advice skips.
Your followers are not seeing every post
Three times a week does not mean the same person sees you three times a week.
On the Impromptu workshop I said it straight: your followers are not seeing it three times a week. They are probably seeing it once a week. On Maven I said the same thing another way. Unless your posts go completely viral, all of your followers are not seeing every post.
That is not how the algorithm works. People are not on that frequently either. If you post once a week, a lot of the people you care about simply miss you.
So if you think three times a week is too much, try like ten times a week. I am only half kidding. The point is consistency beats one perfect essay.
Personal profile first
Post on your personal page. Make the company page the afterthought.
I tell what we are doing at Mylance, the learnings, the wins, the mistakes, on my personal profile. Sure, I will repost on the company page. Nobody gives a damn about the Mylance company page the way they care about a person. On a call with Ognen I said that out loud. People want to hear from people.
What to measure instead of freaking out about one bad week
Raw impressions bounce. That is normal.
The number I watch is profile views. On Maven: 3,100 profile views over 90 days from a platform that already has these people on it. You do not need to drive them to a website for familiarity to build. On the Impromptu workshop I cited 3,166 profile views across 90 days. That is the forcing function. Profile views, not likes.
Yes, one story can spike. The Raleigh Uber and Lyft launch post put about 700,000 impressions in front of people and drove 22 inbound conversations. That was my best post. Most will not do that. The habit still matters on the average weeks.
Done is better than perfect
It is really common to spend hours on a LinkedIn post thinking it needs to be perfect. Throw that out. Get it 80% of the way there and ship it. Done is better than perfect. I am a recovering perfectionist too.
Great content starts with great positioning. If positioning is soft, more posts just means more noise. Lock who you help and what you want to be known for, then ship first-person learnings, wins, and mistakes. Not AI slop. Not corporate announcements.
On the Alteryx call I said something people overthink: nobody is making up a story about whether you used a tool, hired a writer, or just committed to writing three times a week in the morning. They are not thinking about that. They care if it sounds like you.
A practical LinkedIn posting frequency
Here is the cadence I recommend if you already close when the right person shows up:
1. Personal profile, not company page as the main stage.
2. At least three times a week. Same days if that helps you stick.
3. First-person point of view. Learnings, wins, mistakes from work you already did.
4. Ship at 80%. Edit out AI-sounding words. Move on.
5. Watch profile views over 90 days more than one-week impression swings.
I have been posting for years. Lately I schedule the week in about fifteen minutes because the drafts start from real source material and positioning, not a blank chat box. The job is not more content for the sake of content. The job is showing up often enough that the right people keep recognizing you.
FAQ
How often to post on LinkedIn for consultants and founders?
At least three times a week on your personal profile if you want familiarity before the call.
How many times a week should I post on LinkedIn?
Three is the minimum I recommend. Once a week is usually not enough because followers miss most posts.
Is LinkedIn posting frequency more important than perfect posts?
Yes. Done at 80% three times a week beats one perfect post a month.
Should I post on my company page or personal profile?
Personal profile first. Use the company page to amplify, not as the center of the strategy.
What is Mylance?
Mylance is a LinkedIn content system that turns your real expertise into consistent posts that sound like you. It remembers you, starts from real source material, helps decide what to say, and learns from edits. It is not an AI copywriter, not a scheduler alone, not lead-gen, and not outreach. The job is consistent LinkedIn content from expertise you already have.
