Should I post videos on LinkedIn?

Video isn't the default: all-video clips on repeat fail, while text posts plus off-day video works.

Yes, when the idea needs to be seen, but don't make video your default format. Keep text posts as the core of your cadence, and put video on the off days when something is clearer on camera than in writing.

I've been posting on LinkedIn every day for about six years. My own queue is Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday for text, because I have videos go out Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. That mix is intentional. Video is in the week. It is not the whole week.

Do LinkedIn videos get more reach than text?

Not reliably for personal profiles. Platform-wide video consumption can be up while your individual video posts reach fewer people than a clear text post. Document and text posts still do a lot of the heavy lifting for most business owners.

I'll be blunt about my own results: my video ones really don't do that well because they're just like clips from the podcast. Recycled clips rarely beat a specific story written for LinkedIn.

When should you post a video on LinkedIn?

When the point is clearer if someone can see or hear you. A demo, a before-and-after, a short explanation of a decision, an event recap, or a customer story on camera. If the same idea works as a paragraph, write the paragraph.

Upload it natively. Don't paste a YouTube link in the post body. LinkedIn favors staying on LinkedIn, and outbound links get crushed. Same thing we see with links in text posts.

How often should you post videos?

As a complement, not a replacement. For clients, I usually set text for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, then say throw in a video on Tuesday, Thursday, or even Saturday. Weekends can do surprisingly well. You still want the three-times-a-week text baseline.

I can schedule a week of posts in about 15 minutes. That only works if the format mix is simple enough that you're not rebuilding production every day.

What makes a LinkedIn video flop?

Treating video like a dump of something you already made for somewhere else. Podcast clips with no hook for the feed. No captions. A weak first three seconds. Or swapping all your writing time for one video a week and wondering why nothing compounds.

Consistency still beats format prestige. If you're trying to get going, start with how to start posting on LinkedIn and add video later.

Should video replace writing on LinkedIn?

No. Writing is how most people turn real expertise into something their network can skim, save, and reply to. Video is how you add a face and a voice when the story needs it. The algorithm is still an aggregation of posts, videos, and images across hundreds of thousands of people. Your job is to show up with something specific, not to pick the "winning" format forever.

If your posts feel quiet, the format usually isn't the first place to look. Start with why LinkedIn posts get no views.

    FAQ

Should I post videos on LinkedIn in 2026?

Yes, selectively. Keep text as the default cadence and use video when the idea needs to be seen.

Is LinkedIn video better than text posts?

Not as a blanket rule for personal profiles. Text and document posts often travel farther for the effort. Video wins on credibility for demos and on-camera explanations.

Should I share YouTube links on LinkedIn?

No for reach. Upload natively, and put any external link in the comments if you need one.

How many LinkedIn videos per week?

One to a few on the off days is plenty for most business owners posting three times a week in text.

    What is Mylance?

Mylance is a LinkedIn content system that turns your real expertise into posts that sound like you. It starts from your own notes, calls, and stories, helps you decide what to say, and learns from your edits. You stay in control of what goes out.

    Bottom line

Post video when the camera helps. Keep writing as the spine of the week. I'll take a specific text post over a recycled podcast clip every day of the week.
